Malocclusion can include a variety of problems, such as crooked teeth, protruding teeth or a crooked bite. The correction of malocclusion is intended to improve the abnormal alignment of teeth and bite, and thus the chewing function and aesthetics of the smile.

Placing braces on the teeth is aimed at correcting misaligned teeth and bite. Braces consist of metal or ceramic components, called brackets, and wires that connect the brackets and apply pressure to the teeth, moving them gradually into the desired position.
The brackets, which the braces contain, are bonded to the front surface of each tooth with a special adhesive. The orthodontist then cuts the wires to the appropriate length and bends them to exert pressure on the teeth in the direction of the intended changes. However, in order to achieve the result of a beautiful smile, it is necessary to make the appropriate adjustments to the braces regularly at follow-up visits.

Course of orthodontic treatment
